WTN: 2001 Trimbach Riesling Cuvée Frédéric Emile

by Greg H » Sun Jul 13, 2008 6:37 pm

I had this wine with a brunch entree of lightly cooked eggs, parmesan shavings and fresh made pesto over toast from a bakery loaf. This very rich dish was complemented by the flavor and intensity of the riesling which cut through the richness to add another wonderful layer of taste to the meal. I will add more bottles of this to the cellar.

Thanks for the note. I have been adding bottles to the cellar but never tasted one. Glad to know I'm on the right track!

Was it ever in doubt?

Yes, also glad to hear of the wine showing well. I think there has been some doubt about how it would show now.

I had this wine 2 months ago and thought it was not very good. It was a bit tired and not focussed. I'm pretty sure I had a bad bottle after reading all the positive comments so I have to search out another bottle and try it again.

There's no way that a Trimbach CFE, from a good (or better) vintage should be tired by age 7. Your bottle had to be bad Felix.
