We tasted the other week (7/2/08) two dessert wines:
1. RobertPecota Moscato d'Andrea Calif MuscatBlanc (11%) 1981: Med.dark color; intense muscatty/toasted coconut/ZagNutBar waxy/candle/piney very perfumed slight Moscatel de Setubal quite complex/fragrant nose; somewhat sweet rich/muscatty/toasted coconut somewhat Moscatel de Setubal w/o the oxidation lovely/lush some complex flavor; very long/lingering very muscatty/waxy/toasted coconut/ZagNutBar some sweet bit complex finish; some like Moscatel de Setubal w/o the oxidation those old one have; a lovely absolutely delicious dessert wine that's in great shape and no signs of falling apart.

2. Ch. Guiraud 1er Cru (13.5%) 2001: Med.dark gold color; strong peachy/apricotty/botrytis figgy/Semillon/ripe light caramel/butterscotch/creme brulee light caramel/oak lovely nose; quite sweet very strong/botrytis/peachy/apricotty light figgy/ripe/Semillon some butterscotchy/oak flavor; very long/lingering strong botrytis/peachy/apricotty light butterscotchy/oak finish; loads of botrytis but the structure to carry it out 20 yrs or more; absolutely delish young Sauternes.
