WTN: 2000 Fichet Meursault Meix Sous la Château

by David M. Bueker » Wed Jul 16, 2008 11:49 am

This has not really budged in the last year or so. There's still a bit of noticeable oak, though it's not objectionable. The pear flavors are perhaps a touch more ripe/evolved, and overall everything is just a touch more round than last year at this time. It still tastes fairly young overall though.

You know this, of course ... but really good Meursault can take a long time to come around. And when it finally does, hooboy!

It can indeed, but I'm being very cautious due to the premox issues. The Fichet has been totally clean so far, but a case of 2001 Jadot Mersault Genevrieres has been somewhat variable (2 premoxed out of 6 so far). So I live in fear.

I, too, live in fear. I picked up a few bottles of Laroche chablis a few weeks ago because they are screwcapped...

I was set to buy a 1999 white Burgundy (I forget the specifics now) until I looked it up on Cellar-Tracker and found three notes saying their bottles were prematurely oxidized.

There is an informative wiki on the issue of premature oxidation here: premox
