WTN: Jean Perrier et Fils Chignin 2006

AC Vin de Savoie
100 per cent Jacquère

Fairly deep yellow, bordering on golden, in the glass.

Not much happening on the nose.

Honeyed, lemon, lime, green apple, a hint of citrus rind bitterness, quite rich, good acidity, slightly prickly on the tongue, a hint of saltiness, crisp, minerally and very clean (in a mountain stream sort of way).

With time, the wine's tanginess became more pronounced, as did its lemon, grapefruit and tart green apples, but it kept its clean minerality.

A tangy, mouthwatering finish.

A fairly impressive wine.

Purchased at $14.85 (Canadian).

Bruce,

Are you specifically looking for out of the ordinary wins to try. The diversity of your notes is amazing. Do you cellar any particular types of wine or just drink all the different stuff that's out there?

Thanks David. I do try to seek the "out of the ordinary grapes", looking for tasting sensations that might deviate a little from the mainstream. Grapes that the "average person" wouldn't recognize. Not that there's anything wrong with Chardonnay, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz.

As for my cellar, it holds a few "cellar treasures" that I primarily bought during a time in my life when I had lots of surplus cash and went for the trophy wines. Sometimes I will still splurge on an expensive bottle, but that is usually reserved for birthdays and Christmas when my "well trained" family gives me cash or gift certificates. Today, for the most part, my cellar just holds the everyday drinking wines that I buy.

Well, Bruce just keep `em coming. We all appreciate your regular posts!

(BTW today I came across a wine from Jost, Nova Scotia. I think it was a Seyval. One of the girls at the Grill says look out for the Muscat. Any chance you can locate in your area?!!)

Am "aware" of Jost and a few other Nova Scotia wineries but have never seen any in Ontario.
