One can't go wrong: 2002 Donnhoff Oberhauser Brucke spatlese

This is really a delicious wine. When first opened it was elegant and seamless with peach aromas, and flavor profile that simply stated: "This wine is whole, of a single piece." It went well with the broiled Italian sausage and sauteed sugar snap peas we had for dinner. Later it was more complex, still delicious, but with a sweetness counterpointed by a saltiness that expressed a kind of dancing tension in the wine. Hints of red fruit were present. I look forward to day two of this wine. An outstanding Donnhoff spatlese that showed both the richness I associate with the Nahe with the raciness of the Mosel. Lovely, delicious, and wine geek heaven all at the same time. Jim

I love the 2002 Brucke even more than the 2001. It has that extra dimension of minerality that was covered up in the '01. Of course both are/will be beautiful, but the 2002 is there now.
