WTN: Chateau des Charmes Methode Traditionelle Brut NV

by Bruce Hayes » Sun Jul 27, 2008 8:23 pm

VQA Niagara Peninsula
A blend of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir.

Very good, frothy mousse.

Light yellow in the glass.

Quite nutty on the nose.

Clean, tart green apples, lemon, quite tart, very acidic, nutty, quite bitter.

A very drying, acidic finish that sort of burns on the way down.

A very unenjoyable wine. This wine received a glowing review from an Ontario-based critic, so I am not sure what happened here, but I know my wife and I didn't care for it at all.

Purchashed at $22.75 (Canadian).

And ultimately, that's all that counts.

Until you got to the bitter palate and burning finish, you had me. :(

I had this a few years ago and enjoyed it. Purchased at the winery during our first NiagaraCOOL in 2005. I couldn't find a WTN, but I thought I had posted one. Maybe the "NV" cuvee has changed over the years.
Chico - Hey! This Bottle is empty!
Groucho - That's because it's dry Champagne.
