2003 Rimu Grove Pinot Noir, Nelson, NZ, 13.4%
Here's a snappy little number: red cherries and tomato skin on the nose with cherries, tomato and fennel seed on the palate, plus a bitter cola note on the finish that's mixed up with, and marred by, more acidity than one would expect for its age. Less fruit toward the end of the bottle than at first, better with food than without, and mild tannins. No idea about this wine's track record, but sans better information and though this is by no means a bad wine now, I'd guess this wine was meant for earlier drinking and peaked a year or so ago.
Sue, where's Nelson?
