MoCool trip: I-75 corridor & share-ride Friday (UPDATED)

by Mike Conner » Wed Aug 06, 2008 7:41 am

UPDATE! (see below)

Hey all... sorry its been a while since making posts to WLDG. Job and house and all seem to keep my "fun time" on the web at a minimum. And, doesn't help that my job is pretty much in front of a pc nearly all day.

Anyway, I'm 99.994% sure I'm doing MoCool. Being in Knoxville, will be driving north on I-75 to US-23 into Ann Arbor. Just wondering if there might be others along this corridor who want to share the ride?

TRIP:

Leave Knoxville, TN a little after 10am(EDT) on Friday 8/15 (can't leave earlier thanks to work). The trip usually takes about 8 hours with gas stops. Return on Sunday (8/17) after helping with picnic clean-up (and maybe a wine stop at Village Corner, and cheese stop at Morgan & York).

Trip is definite now. Just need my work to cooperate so I can get on the road shortly after 10am....

I see there is some construction on I-75 in KY and OH.... Will need to do some "coordination" as I'm trying to get to AA as quickly (and of course, safely!) as possible... so would prefer to minimize time off the interstate and drop-offs in AA. But, the chance to $cash$ on gas is a strong incentive for being flexible. (I'm not wishing to charge "extra" for trip... just split the gas bill on the ride-share portion of trip - and with my SUV's manual transmission, I'm happy doing all the driving).

I own an Isuzu Rodeo, so there is room for extra people and wine. Just need to make sure there is room for bottles - and they be well cushioned to make the trip in good shape!

SATURDAY RIDE HAS CHANGED: I've decided to stay both Friday and Saturday at the cabins. Can't beat the value... just have to figure out some Saturday morning and Sunday morning vittles.

Can possibly work out Saturday picnic transportation as well - I'm currently planning to drive to the picnic. But, might have different plans for Saturday night.... so can't guarantee at this point.

So, if you're interested in a ride-share, send me an e-mail through the board (or, you can use mikeconner at utk.edu - just take out the spaces and change at to the @ symbol).

Hotel is now gonzo.... I'm staying at the cabins, so no need to ask for a hotel roomie.

HOTEL:

I currently have a double-bed room reservation in AA (not too far from UMich. campus just off I-94) for both Friday and Saturday.... which is kinda expensive since it is Nascar weekend, so am possibly looking to room-share as well. This might be a bit fluid on my end - I am continuing to search for less expensive and yet still convenient options - which means I might still be looking for rooms on Friday the 15th! (as happens here in Knoxville, there occasionally is room availability on the Friday before our Univ. of Tenn. football games as people alter plans). I'd like to leave a few bucks in my pocket to make a Sunday stop at Village Corner....

Thanks for taking the time to read through this....

Mike
