If only he'd bought wine in 1938...recos?

by JuliaB » Thu Aug 07, 2008 12:49 am

Our favorite weather guesser, Kamado Commando, and self-proclaimed King Curmudgeon, is celebrating his birthday today. If he knew then, what he knows now, which wines do you think he should have acquired since 1938? (For the sake of argument, we will assume he was a gifted infant with a very refined palate)

I was thinking he might want to throw something on the Hot Mama and open a Château de Laubade Vintage 1938 Armagnac.

Other suggestions?

Happy Birthday, BobH!!
Cheers!

Julia, B., my dear; something from 1937, or, better still, from 1934 (or, best yet, from 1929!!!). Even '45 would do...

What about an 1899 madiera? Then he could have had something for Lou's birth year!
Yes, and how many deaths will it take 'til he knows
That too many people have died?

Thanks Mike. Some B-Days are diamonds and some are old lumps of coal. This one is a diamond given all the nice wishes.

Making fun of Lou's age is a long-time WLDG sport isn't it?

Of course that means he is wiser than most of the rest of us too.

Happy belated birthday, Bob! I hope you (or, better yet, someone else) grilled up something special on Hot Mama.

Thanks Mark. There is a special knack involved in getting old! Even "Old Blue Eyes" sang about it.
