WTN: 2005 Navarro Late Harvest Riesling

2005 Navarro Vineyards Late Harvest White Riesling
Anderson Valley, Mendocino

I purchased this at the winery on my last trip to northern California.

Lovely peach and pineapple aroma. Peach and mango on the palate with a nice touch of honey. Not syrupy, but a pleasant thickness on the tongue. This wine has just enough acidity so it isn't cloying. Nicely balanced.

I was serving fresh figs with a dollop of Montrachet drizzled with peppered honey. The wine worked well with the honey and the creaminess of the cheese.

I'm not much of a sweet wine drinker, especially with sweet fruit, but this matched really worked for me. Makes me wish I would have purchased more.
