1999 Rudesheimer Klosterlay (Rheingau) Reisling Kabinett 9.0% Gutsabfullung Klosterweingut Abtei St. Hildegard (of Bingen) A.P. Nr. 24004 016 00
In preparation of my move to Japan, I have been clearing out my stash of wine. I was surprised to see this as I thought I had drank all three bottles of this that I bought some time ago. Given that it was a 1999 vintage and that I do not have the ideal storage I was not giving this much hope but it surprised me in that it was still very drinkable. The color was a medium yellow with flavors of peaches and apricot and a shot of lime and smelled of tart green apples. There was a nice balance between the acidity and sugar.

Interesting note. I like the Klosterlay (I know it from Leitz). The Abbey is a lovely structure perched in the middle of the vineyards.
