Look at the last page - according to them, Mouton wasn't legally raised to a 1st!

Getting past the bizarre intricacies of French law I'll say this: after having had the chance to drink many well-aged vintages and some young ones, I love Mouton. It is rarely a blockbuster which gets it marked down in these times of more is better, but it's exotic, complex and utterly beguiling to me. It's my favorite of the 1sts.

Mouton gets beaten up a lot lately, but I love it. In fact Latour (the current darling) is my least favorite of the 5 first growths.

Chacun a son gout. I probably don't drink Firsts as much as you do, but I have a clear feeling that Mouton is my least favorite. I've loved vintages like the '82, but have found lacking in so many vintages. Not bad wine by any stretch, but not up to level of the other firsts. Surprised by your comment of not being a blockbuster, as when it is on Mouton is probably the poster child for blockbuster. There's not a single 1st I don't think of as my favorite in some vintage, each can be beguiling. But for me Mouton is the least consistent.

David, you can still surprise me.

Wouldn't have thought the Mutton would be your top pick.
