WTN: Codorniu Reserva Raventos Cava Brut NV

by Bruce Hayes » Thu Aug 21, 2008 6:34 pm

The bottle doesn't indicate the blend, but a search of the net reveals it is Chardonnay (50 per cent) Macabeo (25) and Xarel-lo.

Light yellow in the glass.

Not overly exuberant mousse, but a few streams of tiny bubbles.

Clean, zippy acidity, lemon, tart green apples, nutty, quite refreshing. Rather tasty.

Nowhere near the best or most complex sparkling wine I have ever had, but perfect for a Thursday evening with cold crab and pasta salald.

Purchased at $14.95 (Canadian).

At that price, any drinkable bubbly is a good one.
