1. Cristom Pinot Noir 2006. A very, very big boy for an Oregon Pinot (is it the vintage) with 14.5% nominal abv and a hint of heat on the finish. However, unlike many bigger California pinots, this did not have that candied cherry cola flavor that I hate. Instead, it was very much earth, black and red cherry, mushroom? Quite enjoyable, even though I might prefer a little more acidity and bright red fruit. Thanks Joe and Donna! 90 points.
2 Clos Roche Blanche L'Arpent Rouge 2006. I had to throw in a weird hippy French wines. No off-flavors or aromas in this one (hurrah! No peanut butter) Black pepper, sour red cherry, and earth on the nose. Light and thin on the palate when compared to the Cristom, with similar flavor profiles. The wine did become richer and earthier over time. I am thinking these wines need decanting. Very "controversial" among my fellow diners. I love sour cherry and black pepper...others didn't like the nose and found it thin.

3. 2000 Clos Du Val Reserve. Probably infanticide. Wondeful dark cherry fruit (Stag's Leap!) with a distinct anice/liciorice character. This wine also opened up over the evening, both in the decanter and in our glasses. Beautifully balanced-no nasty oak vanillin, alcohol is under 14% and not dominant at all. I think I will hold my other Reserve (a 2001) for at least five years, if not more, but this was drinking very beautifully today in its more fruit forward phase. Balance and elegance. 93 now with upside potential.
