Sagrantino Wine Festival

by Vincenzo D » Sun Aug 31, 2008 1:15 am

Maybe it can be interesting is you're coming to Italy on September.
In Umbria, in the cute small hil town Montefalco, from Thursday 18 until Sunday 21 there is the Sagrantino WIne Festival.
A very lovely and smart way to know more and better about this wine and taste it in a guided way English speaking.
Anyway, Montefalco and the close Bevagna, deserve a visit.
Ciao.
Vincenzo.

Thanks for the invitation, Vincenzo, and welcome to the forum! I am glad we got that user name problem straightened out!

Many of us are great fans of Umbria, and I'm sure when Paulo Faustini sees this discussion he will have something to say, as he has often toured there.

I’ll be there to try the new 2005 Sagrantino di Montefalco. There are guided tastings in English of the Sagrantino di Montefalco 2005 on Friday (5pm), Saturday (5pm) and Sunday (midday) for anyone who is interested and happens to be in the area. There is also a bicycle ride though the vineyards with tastings leaving at 9am –always a great way to see the area. You can find the entire programme here http://www.settimanaenologica.it/XXIX%20SETTIMANA%20ENOLOGICA.pdf –in Italian only I am afraid. I'll let you know how it goes!

I am leaving in few minutes and I hope to arrive to Montefalco for dinner time (maybe too late, I know).
I will write about it on Sunday night.
Prosit.

Sagrantino Wine Festival (2)

by Vincenzo D » Mon Oct 27, 2008 10:42 am

I apologize for deelay in my post about the Sagrantino Wine Festival.
With four friends of mine we bought 8 different labels of Montefalco Sagrantino and on last Saturday we made a blind taste during a not short dinner.
These are our scores ( on /100)

Montefalco Sagrantino Uno di Otto 2005 by Alzatura 75
Montefalco Sagrantino Colleallodole 2005 by Antano Milziade 90
Montefalco Sagrantino Chiusa di Pannone 2003 by Antonelli - San Marco 80
Montefalco Sagrantino Gold 2004 by Colpetrone 90
Montefalco Sagrantino SorAnna by Martinelli 73
Montefalco Sagrantino Terre di Capitani 2004 by Pennacchi Domenico 75
Montefalco Sagrantino Ugolino 2005 by Terre de' Trinci 85
Montefalco Sagrantino Exubera 2005 by Terre de La Custdia 70

I apologize I cannot write here our remarks because I cannot translate so very specific words using my poor English.

Ciao a tutti.
