David Coffaro Sauvignon Blanc, Dry Creek Valley, Estate Bottled, Unfiltered 2006
Lemon and a bit of grapefruit, some roundness (from oak?) and once again one of my favorite SBs. 14.2% alcohol 55 cases
Bought on futures for $12.00, picked up 11/06

A very hot day, and I made pan-seared dry-packed scallops served with deli German-style potato salad that's better than I can make.
I know the SB sees oak - otherwise it couldn't possibly be Coffaro! The style is absolutely Californian. If you had to describe a tendency, it's more European than New Zealander, but really it's neither.

Shenandoah Vineyards, Amador County, "ReZerve" Primitivo 2004
Blackberries, dust, pleasant acidity. Nice dark cherry color, opaque in a full glass, shiny transparent at an inch. Very nice wine! Bought at the winery in April '07 for $24.00. 14.6% alcohol

It went well, fresh from the cellar, with spaghetti on a 90° night. Not a great bargain at that price, but not a ripoff either.
