WTN: 2006 Duck Pond Chardonnay, Oregon

by Jenise » Mon Sep 15, 2008 1:26 pm

Poured last night at a community harvest celebration. Tastes like it was cut with paint thinner. Just ghastly. Made the other white they were pouring, a simple Hogue Fume Blanc, taste like Pur Sang. It reminds me of when we lived in Alaska in the mid-90's and Duck Pond pinot first appeared on the market. We immediately began referring to it as Duck Pee. Nothing's changed. AVOID.

Sounds like another Oregon wine I had in Alaska a couple of weeks ago. It was so bad I blanked the name out of my memory.

I don't know, Jenise, the Duck Pond sounds like a good buy to me. After all, if you can have one taste of that paint thinner, then think you are drinking Pur Sang, or maybe with two sips, Silex, when it's a Hogue, well, think of the $$$$ you can save!!
Cheers, Jim

You'd be right, of course, if the effect could have lasted past the first sip. Alas, my palate isn't that gullible!
