WTN: 2002 L D'Or

by Mark Lipton » Fri Sep 19, 2008 11:26 pm

In honor of David Bueker, tonight with a dinner of seared sea scallops and smoked salmon, I opened:

2002 Luneau-Papin Muscadet Sevre-et-Maine L D'Or
color: golden yellow
nose: lemon, salt, pineapple
palate: rounded, rich, minerality, citrus, clean finish

This wine is in a wonderful place right now, and even Jean -- who is phobic about aging white wine -- stated that this was a "great bottle of wine." A very good match with both the salmon and the scallops, too.

Sure...rub it in.

I have Muscadet in the cellar that I am aging. We'll see in another 3 years or so.
