WTN - '05 Joseph Drouhin Laforet Bourgogne

2005 Joseph Drouhin Laforet Bourgogne - imported by Dreyfus, Ashby & co., NY 12.5% ABV, screwcap, $19.00 at my favorite wineshop in Charleston, WV.

Varietally correct, good fruit, well resolved tannins, no nasty funk (or mushrooms or earth, for that matter) to detract from our pleasure. Fruit forward, not new world but maybe new French in character, a little more oak than I like but not overwhelmingly so. It's so difficult to find decent Pinot Noir I would buy this again, even at $19. Everything is more expensive in WV.

This has been one of our favorite wines year in and year out for several decades now.

Nothing like having one's judgement confirmed, I always say. Now I'll have to buy a case. :)

I'm not a fan of the Laforet, but I really like the '05 Drouhin Vero Bourgogne. And the Vero comes in screwcap!
