WTN: Brun L'Ancien, Thevenet Macon

Over a period of 4 days, the 2006 Jean Claude Thevenet Macon-Pierreclos. Larger framed Macon, a light sweet note to the apple and citrus fruit profile, a good mineral edge to the finish. There is a slightly distracting herb note. Good length for a $14 wine, holds well for first couple of nights, oxidation too much by day 4 (not surprisingly). B

With roast chicken and root vegetables and baby bok choy salad , the 2007 Terres Dorees (JP Brun) Beaujolais VV. This is the wine where apparently the first batch was approved for the AOC, and then the second and third batches were denied approval as being atypical. Well, I'd say compared to the average Beaujolais that I've seen the Brun is indeed atypical, as it is delicious. A little less tannin than the previous 2 vintages,
a floral nose with a hint of earth, fresh cherry fruit with a little hint of blackboard chalk. Good acidity, excellent clean finish. what's not to like? B+

Grade disclaimer: I'm a very easy grader, basically A is an excellent wine, B a good wine, C mediocre. Anything below C means I wouldn't drink at a party where it was only choice. Furthermore, I offer no promises of objectivity, accuracy, and certainly not of consistency.

Glad to see the 2007 Brun is a winner. So it's not as big as prior vintages; in your mind is that a good thing or a bad thing? Just looking for an opinion.

Actually it's just a thing. :)
This is more the style of the '04 than the '05 or '06, but I liked them all. The '05 in particular seemed to need a bit of time, this is ready to go now for me. Unlike the '05, I wouldn't use this as a PN sub.
