DOC Rioja
Alvaro Palacios
A 50-50 blend of Tempranillo and Garnacha.
Good cherry red in the glass.
Smooth mouth feel, chocolate, medium weight, tangy cherry, raspberry, a light bitter streak, bitter chocolate, thick and rich, charred-roasted notes, light red licorice, a strong shot of tangy acidity toward the end.
Light tannin on the finish.
With time, the wine seemed to shut down a bit.
I think this might benefit from some cellar time.
Purchased at $16.95 (Canadian).
