WTN: 2000 Cullen Wines Cabernet-Merlot Diana Madeline

2000 Cullen Wines Diana Madeline - Australia, Western Australia, South West Australia, Margaret River (9/27/2008)
Aromatically elegant, yet packed with cherry fruit, earth & subtle toast & powdery/floral notes. On the palate it is finely balanced, shows fruit from first taste all the way through the finish, elements of cedar & adds a pleasing bitter note on the end. This is very Bordeaux-esque & really a world-class expression of the Bordeaux blend style. Delicious.

Another collaborative note from Salil "I will bring Aussie wine that you will drink & like" Benegal & David "Are you trying to mess with my head" Bueker

Tanks for the note, David.

I've drunk many vintages of Cullen's Cabernet (/Merlot) since the magnificent 1982 vintage and what has impressed me greatly about them is their ability to go on and on and that eerie reminiscence of Bordeaux you mention. There's also more than a suggestion of some Graves 'gravelly' character to be found here from time to time.
Cheers,

David

Two hours later there's an element of leather...

Thanks for the note, David, and it's good to hear that you and Salil have crossed paths, as I can well imagine that your common interest in Riesling ought to provide some fertile ground for discussion.
