WTN: 2005 Domaine Henri Gouges Nuits St. Georges

2005 Domaine Henri Gouges Nuits St. Georges - France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Nuits St. Georges (9/29/2008)
I expected something very closed in and tough, but there was plenty of rich fruit, earthiness & of course a solid tannic spine. The balance is outstanding, so aging will only do good things. Lovely village wine.

Nice to hear that it is so friendly, have been looking at this wine and considered buying.

thanks for notes. Surprising it's that open based on other Gouges, but then I haven't had a red Gouges from 21st century, maybe style changed a bit. Or maybe it's just the village wine is designed differently.

I'm sure the rare ribeye steak helped as well.
