WTN: EdmundsStJohn Calif Mourvedre '87...(short/boring)

After I cracked my BonnyDoon GrahmCrewRouge '85 and found totally shot, I pulled from the same case, w/ low expectations:
1. EdmundsStJohn Calif (Mataro) Mourvedre TW; C&B by EastBayWinePatrons/Berkeley 1987: Very dark color w/ some bricking; bit cedary/old Zin some eartyhy/licorice/pungent slight tarry bit wet wool smokey/pungent nose; soft/smooth slightly tannic/astringent/dried out light pungent/tarry/earthy/meaty some complex flavor; med.long slight tannic/dried out smooth pungent/tarry/licorice/earthy/meaty/wet wool some pencilly/cedary/old Zin some complex finish; still holding on. $13.00

A wee BloodyPulpit:
1. Not sure where these grapes came from; maybe Brandlin, maybe ContraCosta; because of the Calif appellation. The wine was clearly on the downside, but still hanging in there and definitely a pleasure to drink w/ my hash browns/pork rillette fritatta. I can see it being an older Bandol, maybe not Tempier though. Or should that be a low-brow Bandol?? Whatever.

Reporting in from Italy, Steve says it from EvangheloVnyd/ContraCosta and EronRanch/Calistoga. Plus some Charbono/BrandlinRanch and Grenache/McDowellVllyVnyd.
