WTN: Mezzomondo Negroamaro 2007

by Bruce Hayes » Mon Oct 27, 2008 6:10 pm

Salento IGT

Dark purple in the glass.

Light nose of vanilla and cherry.

Very light bodied (verging on watery), vanilla, spicy, quite tangy, light raspberry and cherry.

A drying finish with some raspberry.

Purchased at $8.40 (Canadian).

At one time, this wine was the closet I came to having a house wine. Lovely fruit, good heft and that great smoky-leather-earthy qualities I just love. All of that, appears, to be gone. I never thought I would hope for a bad or off bottle, but I hope that is what I have encountered tonight and not a drastic change in house style. I shall have to conduct further bottle research to determine. :D

Certainly doesn't sound like any Negroamaro I've encountered, Bruce. Not familiar with the brand, but if you try again, please report.
