Short notes from one of Lester's Light Liquid Lunches at Gaudi.

Koru Sauvignon Blanc 2005 - Wairau Valley, Marlborough NZ. Lots of ripe guava/passionfruit on the nose and palate. Powerful bitter/sweet pomelo on the finish. This wine has lots of character I rarely find in most Sauvignon Blanc. Excellent and good for drinking now.

Pegasus Bay Virtuoso Chardonnay 2005 - Waipara, Canterbury NZ. Well-judged use of oak. Good balance. A gentle, pleasant Chardonnay though a little bland. Good.

Papa Luna 2006 - From Calatayud, Aragon Spain. Syrah, Garnacha, Monastrell. Rich, ripe berry fruit. Plummy. Modern and sweetish. Not bad.

Cape Mentelle Trinders 2002 Cabernet/Merlot - Rather spicy, lots of acidity. Still some tannins. I think the fruit is starting to fade in this so that the acidity is what dominates. Just past its best, unfortunately.
Three be the things I shall never attain:
Envy, content, and sufficient champagne.
