Medium ruby red with a slight fade to the edge.
Reticent nose at first but opens up to a nice ripe cherry nose after about 30 minutes in the glass. Midpalate has nice smooth, ripe tannins with tart cherries and nice balancing acidity. Medium to long finish of red fruit (cherries and red raspberries) and nice refreshing acidity. Nicely balanced. Good sipper too.
Food friendly wine that went well with roast beef seasoned with special 'pinot noir' herb and spice mix rubbed over the roast. Somewhat better match with roast covered with 'northern horse radish' that is a mix of beets, onions, pickles, and horse radish.
Wine: Benton Lane 2004 Pinot Noir Willamette valley, 13.5% abv
wine was a present from my brother James.
