Shipyard Prelude ($13.98/12 pack). This fall and winter ale from Shipyard will be available nationwide (U.S.) through January. It is my brew of choice right now. It bears no resemblance whatsoever to other “winter brews” currently on the mass market. It is named after the winter festival in Kennebunkport, where Shipyard originated. The following is from an online review:

“Prelude is a rich, nutty, full-bodied English Ale with an inviting amber hue and hoppy finish. Prelude has a 6.7% alcohol volume, making this seasonal specialty the perfect winter warmer.”

It is a lovely brew and is just as nice with food as it is alone.
