EdmundsStJohn Mailer...Finally Hits...

by TomHill » Wed Nov 19, 2008 1:25 pm

It finally got thru Steve's Art Dept and showed up in my mailbox ystrday (that seems such a quaint way to market your wines!!). Man...another one of those glitzy/glossy brochures...these slick marketing types know how to shill their wares to the high-end market.
It has:
Witters/ElDorado PinotGris '07 $16
Heart Of Gold WhiteRhoneBlend '07 $20.00
TablasCreek Roussanne '05 $20
Witters/ElDorado BoneJolly Gamay '07 $16
Barsotti/ElDorado Porphyry Gamay '07 $20
Rocks&Gravel RedRhoneBlend '05 $18
Parmalee-Hill Syrah '05 $25

Great prices for seriously good wine. The two Gamays are very interesting Cru Beaujolais-level wines and give a very good case for terroir exists in Calif wine.

The Newsletter/commentary is a very good read..touching and from the heart. Worth the price of admission.

Lest you ever get the mistaken idea that your words fall on deaf ears, your recent TN on the gamays prompted me to get off my derrier and finally place a direct order with Steve, the occasion being our neighborhood wine group tasting of beaujulais. This month my partner was choosing the wines, but I insisted that we include this one domestic entrant and Steve insisted that of the two I buy the Bone Jolly, so that's what it will be. So thanks.
My wine shopping and I have never had a problem. Just a perpetual race between the bankruptcy court and Hell.--Rogov

A local shop had (has) the 2006 Gamay Noir, so I am stocked up from the summer (yummy). Otherwise I would be buying despite my current status.
