WTN: '98 Gourgonnier Reserve du Mas

by Mark Lipton » Thu Dec 11, 2008 1:32 am

Tonight, I was celebrating the completion of a very lengthy manuscript describing one of my most signficant discoveries, so went down to the cellar and came up with:

1998 Mas de Gourgonnier "Reserve du Mas" Les Baux de Provence
nose: meat!! kirsch, dust, stones
palate: medium body, acidity, meat shading into bandaid territory, cherries

Wow. This comes across as a fair imitation of Chateauneuf, but the Brett is almost too much, even for a Brett-tolerant person like me. Still, a lot of fun to drink on a Wed. night.

In terms of text 25 pp., but with 7 Schemes, 3 Figures and 5 Tables also thrown in... and > 100 pp. of "Supporting Information."

Yikes, that's a hell of a paper Mark. Congratulations on getting it done - let me know when it gets into publication - would be quite interested to give it a read (especially as I can still remember most of my sophomore/junior year organic fundamentals, as worrying as that is).

Soon to appear in a patent office (not TNT's) near you -- and, with any luck, in the Journal of the American Chemical Society: A Photolabile Backbone Amide Linker for the Synthesis of Cyclic Peptides. Remember, you heard it here first, y'all.

Thanks. I started writing this sucker in September, FWIW. I'll send you a preprint when it's accepted.
