2007 Domaine Rouge-Bleu Mistral Cotes du Rhone

Picked this up for about $17 to accompany salt and pepper crusted pork tenderloin with green lentils and steamed broccoli. My first look at 2007 Southern Rhone wines and this little guy is pretty nice. It's rich but with just enough acidity to keep it lively. Some stem inclusion although barely noticeable. The blend is 71% Grenache (70 year old vines), 19% Syrah (10 year old vines), 8% Mourvedre (70 year old vines) and 2% Roussanne (70 year old vines). As i said, it pretty rich with chocolate, pepper, a hint of garrigue, it has a nice strawberry fruit lift on the back end along with some richer blackberry/blueberry fruit. Not the most complex wine in the world but very tasty and something I would definitely purchase again. Imported by Winewise in Oakland. (88 pts.)
