WTN: Rocca Guicciarda Chianti Classico Riserva 2004

by Bruce Hayes » Fri Dec 26, 2008 10:47 am

Barone Ricasoli.

Dark red in the glass.

A great nose: smoke, leather, earth and dark bitter chocolate.

Medium weight, intense, black cherry, chocolate, tarry, a heavy (but not unpleasant) bitter bite, good acidity, roasted.

Earthy and bitter on the finish.

Consumed on Christmas day at my brother's.

Sounds like a winner-your tasting notes hit all the high points for me :)

I had the 2005 at Assaggio's Ristorante in down town Seattle recently. And wondered if I could get some at retail... Do you know cost and who imported it?

Donna, see my post on Wine Focus.

Bruce, Happy New Year. Still have the `01 on some shelves here. Great wine that year.

Hi Donna. As Bob said, welcome to the boards.

I think it was about $20 (Canadian) and my brother purchased it in Quebec at the SAQ.
