WTN: Blue Pyrenees Cabernet Sauvignon 2004

by Bruce Hayes » Sat Dec 27, 2008 1:52 pm

Victoria

Very dark red in the glass.

Smoky on the nose, rich berry fruit, herbal (oregano, thyme) and lavender.

Medium weight, spicy, minty, chocolate-covered cherries, blackberries, silky and soft in the mouth, a little vegetal, good acidity, charred, becoming a bit hot and sharp with time and the fruit taking on an odd stewed quality.

A tangy finish.

Purchased at $22.95 (Canadian) and not worth it, IMHO.

We tasted at the winery back in the year 2000, and found all their reds had that "odd stewed quality". They made a very nice sparkler, though.
My wine shopping and I have never had a problem. Just a perpetual race between the bankruptcy court and Hell.--Rogov
