WTN: Baumard Logis de la Giraudiere 2004 (Anjou)

Garnet with a developing pale rim, cherries and schist w/ a faint beaujolais like nose lurking in the background, creamy on the front of the palate, tart midway through and at the end, solid yet subtle tannins. The roast beef that I paired it with had too much pepper seasoning and overwhelmed the wine, although the pilaf with mushrooms on the side brought out some interesting herbal notes in the wine. $14 at Rodmans. Nice wine, although I probably wouldn't go out of my way to get it again (too many others out there of comparable price that I like better).

Yeah, they've got a pretty decent selection and their prices are in line with or better than Calvert Woodley, Pearsons, etc. I can often find wines there that I can't find in the bigger shops (I got my first bottle of Musar there) and the staff seems to actually know what they're talking about. They're on Wisconsin Ave. in Friendship Heights.
