WTN: 1996 Duval-Leroy Blanc de Chardonnay

by David M. Bueker » Wed Dec 31, 2008 10:20 pm

Served with popcorn as Laura and I rang in the New Year 4 hours early by watching an episode of Carl Sagan's Cosmos.

Initially just light, frothy and fun, this gained depth with air & really held my interest. Toasty and citrusy, it was a tasty way to big good riddance to 2008. I always thought of Duval-Leroy wines as fine values, and given that this wine cost just over $30 on release (several years ago) not much has changed in that opinion.

Very nice. I had this over a year ago as my first introduction to vintage Champagne at a dinner in Chicago, and loved it - a really enjoyable and layered wine that was great on its own and with food.

Happy New Year btw (already late morning on Jan 1st here).

That's my kind of New Years Eve party, David. My wife and I watched an episode of The Sopranos while drinking Prosecco and eating donuts.
