It's 12 reincarnations, or 13 lives. Starting this season will be the 10th Doctor (or the 9th regeneration from Hartnell). Although it's not entirely clear if Hartnell was the "first" doctor or if he was a reincarnate.

Thanks for all the info. I never did get that stuff. Now I'll have to sneak a peak at it when my wife and daughters aren't looking. Actually my sixteen yearold mught get a kick out of it. Is it still as campy as it was in the seventies?

My God man; you take a thoughtful, intelligent, all inspiring thread about wine gurus, wine geeks and cellar rats and turn it into a Monty Python discussion. What is the wine world coming to? Is this Therapy, wait, maybe I need therapy, on second thought all I need is a good glass of wine.

Quite frankly I like the Wine Therapy board. It's hilarious. I just can't stand the political statement at the top of each thread and I like this forum and the people on it. What's a little thread drift among friends?

:) An MP forum. Wow. :)

I rather like the Camelot (it's only a model) song: we eat ham and jam and spam alot .... I have to push the pram alot.

MP related thread drift is always IMO welcome.
I don't drink wine because of religious reasons ... only for other reasons.

I know this thread is tongue-in-cheek, but just for the record, we just threw up those "ranks" when we set up the new forum because the PhpBB software accommodates them, and we sure didn't want to set up anything serious.

As an instant policy decision, I'll volunteer to assign "special" ranks - like Otto the Musaroholic - to anyone who achieves Uber Geek (1,000 post) status. Nothing obscene, and it has to be short enough to fit in the small space allowed. But if you want to pick a unique rank just for you, Walt, let me know what you want it to be ...

Walt,
Is reincarnation of a living person possible? I'd always thought that death was rather a prerequisite in such matters...

Never a doubt but I was taught that presentation is a major part of the end result.

I thought they were Italian muffins? Aren't they the best part of the show?

The Master went beyond 12, as I recall. With less than pleasant results.

Otto Nieminen wrote:James, I hope you realise that mentioning foreign languages and MP in the same sentence reminds EVERYONE of the Hungarian scene: "would you fondle my nipples? Oh yes, two streets ahead, one to the left." (Or something along those lines.)

The infamous Hungarian phrase book sketch.

It was "Please fondle my bum." Or "My hovercraft is full of eels." Or "Do you want to come upstairs? Bouncy bouncy."

That was the same show that had the famous Spam sketch, which is the origin of "spam" as a term for flooding the Internet with marketing (by way of multi-posting the same article to multiple Usenet newsgroups). The very last scene has the poor bewildered Hungarian saying to an Englishman, "My lower intestine is full of spam."

I am now watching Dr. Who every Saturday on BBCAmerica. I have my 16 year old daughter hooked on the show too. It's great fun. I love the guy they have playing the new Doctor. He understands the role. The new "companion" is also appropriately buxom and beautiful.

One of my all-time favorite MP episodes. In terms of sketches, the Dead Parrot probably is dearest to my heart, with the Ministry of Silly Walks running a close second (honorable mention goes to How Not to Be Seen, the Cheese Shop, the Spanish Inquisition, the Argument Clinic and Election Night Special)

Good choices. The Spanish Inquisition is always near the top of my MP favs.

I'd probably rank Dead Parrot and Argument Clinic as my faves, just ahead of Silly Walks, Cheese, Lumberjacks, and Inquistion. But my sentimental favorite is Upper Class Twit contest. One night in 70s (I was probably 12 or 13) I wanted to watch this cool British comedy I'd heard about. It was being shown at 11 PM on a school night. So I turned down sound and put towel under door so light didn't show (11 was bedtime) and watched my first episode of MP, featuring the Twit of the Year.

You had a TV in your room? You lucky stiff! My watching was restricted to the one, B&W Sylvania TV in the house, but (fortunately for me) the Pythons were shown at 8 or 9 pm on KQED, well before my bedtime (especially since my father was watching alongside me, with my mother continually puzzled over what we found funny). And Upper Class Twit of the Year was another classic sketch, it's true.
