WTN: Beaujolais with my blackeyed peas

A broken down delivery truck meant our organic co-op order didn't arrive New Year's Day, and that put my (Southern) traditional greens on New Year's in jeopardy. Betsy salvaged with a non-traditional spinach and bok choy combo, I countered with blackeyed peas cooked with a smoked ham hock. Wine was the 2007 Clos de la Roilette (Coudert) Fleurie. A tad lighter than some recent vintages, lovely straightforward red berry fruit accented with some freshly turned soil. Medium acids, light tannins, tasty and ready. Nothing cerebral, just excellent smooth drinking Gamay that is a delight with food. B+

Grade disclaimer: I'm a very easy grader, basically A is an excellent wine, B a good wine, C mediocre. Anything below C means I wouldn't drink at a party where it was only choice. Furthermore, I offer no promises of objectivity, accuracy, and certainly not of consistency.
