WTN: Les Terrasses 2004

by Bruce Hayes » Tue Jan 06, 2009 9:10 pm

DOC Priorat
Alvaro Palacios

A blend of Carignan (60 per cent), Grenache (30) and Cabernet Sauvignon.

Very dark red in the glass.

Intense red licorice and tobacco on the nose.

Weighty and thick in the mouth, tangy, blood pudding, plummy, big structure, chocolate, violets, raspberry, red licorice, tarry.

With time, the wine becomes a bit tangier and reveals a bitter streak.

Tangy and drying on the finish.

Purchased at $38.95 (Canadian).

Priorat, a wine I am still trying to understand! Some prices are right up there eh.
An Open Mike might be of interest but think might be tough to get participation? I also think that the food match-up might play an important role?
