WTN: Domaine De L'Aumonier Le Touraine Blanc 2006

by Bruce Hayes » Fri Jan 09, 2009 7:30 pm

AC Touraine
Sophie & Thierry Chardon

100 per cent Sauvignon Blanc

Bright yellow golden in the glass.

A gentle nose of gooseberry and pine resin.

Light to medium bodied, clean, crisp, lemon, green apple, lime and a hint of orange, tangy, refreshing, peppery, snappy.

A tangy, mouthwatering finish, with gooseberry.

A delicious wine that whispers summer in the middle of a Canadian winter.

Purchased at $13.85 (Canadian).

It's from Touraine. I don't usually find cat's pee in Touraine sauvignon blanc. Do you?

Well, sure used to but guess style/wine-making has changed over the years. Also remember some zippy acidity levels too!

Maybe, but one doesn't necessarily expect the same notes in every bottle of wine. And I don't know if 2006 was the best year for zippy acidity.

Not that I have any experience with this producer.

Some Touraine SB is excellent and superb QPR compared to Sancerre, Kiwi, etc. Cat's pee disfigures some of the lesser ones but that is not confined to Touraine.
