Mazzei
IGT Toscana

A blend of Sangiovese (70 per cent) and Merlot.

Dark ruby red, almost black, in the glass.

Balsimic vinegar, and herbs (lavendar, rosemary, thyme) on the nose.

Chocolate, balsimic vinegar, light to medium weight, dried cherry and raspberry, lightly floral, tangy, drying, spicy.

A drying finish.

This was a confusing wine. Every time I had made up my mind that I didn't like it (I had, for some reason, expected something bigger and richer), the wine found a new way to appeal to me.

Purchased at $15.95 (Canadian).
