2004 Moulin-Tacussel Chateauneuf-du-Pape 14.0%
Muted nose, anis being clearest, with some blackberries and sousbois. The palate reveals additional flavors, coffee, tar and cloves. Slightly bitter finish, but pleasing. Good acidity, grippy tannins, alcohol well integrated. Though nothing is objetively wrong, it is not very pleasurable, perhaps because somewhat closed. Improves as the bottle nears the half way mark, when it is put away for return visit in two days.
"I went on a rigorous diet that eliminated alcohol, fat and sugar. In two weeks, I lost 14 days." Tim Maia, Brazilian singer-songwriter.
