Another nice '06. This is a tad too bretty for my taste but not outrageously so. Lots of fragrant red fruit- this is way to the red side of the fruit spectrum, (if you imagine the spectrum as strawberry-raspberry-red cherry-dark cherry-blueberry-blackberry, this is b/w strawberry and raspberry). Not particularly tannic, and only briskly acidic, but it has a strong mineral grip to it- a real gout de terroir. I'd bet anything this is grown on iron-rich marl, rather than straight limestone.

Very good for a $16 half bottle. Will buy again.

I had forgotten I had about a half-glass left of this wine under vacuum from about a week ago. Out of morbid curiosity, I poured the glass.

There's not much left to taste beyond dried cranberries and loads of iron minerality, but what a nose! Sweet red fruit, autumnal forest, maybe a hint- and I mean a hint- of mushroom, but in a good balanced way. This is bricking on the rim and a -dead- ringer for a 15 year old Burg. Go figure!
