I've read the critical reviews of Mont-Redon (mostly RMP), and how they've wasted the terroir for so many years. After drinking the 2001 I don't get the criticism.
No it's not big and extracted (though it does pack a bit of a punch - or maybe it's partly the jet lag), but it has layers of aromas and flavors, a lingering and gentle finish and impeccable balance. It's lovely.
