13% alc./vol. Natural, composite cork closure. Upon opening the wine was quite closed and lacking in interesting aromatics; moreover, it tasted disconcertingly thin and, frankly, a bit sub-par. But oh, what a difference decanting makes. I always suggest decanting young Ontario reds, and by extension, most reds, for at least two hours in a decanter, or failing that, in the uncorked bottle.
Medium garnet hue with a scarlet tinge. Forward, sweet black-cherry fruit with an earthy hint. Open, ripe and pleasant; no greenness to speak of (hey, it is an '07...). Great acidity on the entry coupled with very fine breadth of texture. Full, open tannins spread across the palate; medium-bodied and ripe. A bit of r.s. is noted. Well structured and exceptionally fine at the table.
Most enjoyable and a good buy. But, make sure you decant it first!
