WTN: Pol-ing place ('99 Pol Roger)

by David M. Bueker » Fri Feb 27, 2009 1:15 pm

Drank the '99 Pol Roger last night. I never heard any buzz about the '99 vintage in Champagne, but this is a delicious wine, and coming on the heels of the '99 Bolly (also fantastic) I am becoming a believer in the vintage. The depth and richness of the Pol Roger was impressive, as was the flavor delineation. I really loved the wine & might even look for a few bottles (even considering the overheated Champagne market).

I'm not a huge student of champagne by vintage, but Pol Roger to me is one that never disappoints

David,

The only vintage Pol Roger I've ever tasted was the 1996 Winston Churchill and it is the best Champagne that I have ever tasted.
