WTN: 2004 Mugnier Nuits St. Georges Clos de la Maréchale

by David M. Bueker » Sat Feb 28, 2009 5:53 pm

Participating solo in OTBN...just not going all out

This is the first Mugnier wines I have ever tasted, and despite the vintage reputation it's is very good. There is a little bit of tobacco ash in the initial aromas, but overall it has plenty of fruit & is quite velvety on the palate. There is good mid-palate richness and depth with fine balancing acidity. Seems like it will be a good food wine. We'll see in a couple of hours.

Nice - sounds much better than the Robitussin and soup at my end. Saving "that" bottle for Friday instead.

thanks, I'm holding mine for a while before even thinking about it (I did have a 375 around release).
Your first Mugnier? You must try a Mugnier Chambolle , even village is really excellent, we'll have to arrange something.

I have a couple more bottles I am going to hold onto for a while. My curiosity got the best of me.

So how did it develop over the evening?

The fruit got richer & the little bit of green backed off entirely. Lovely stuff.
