WTN: 1991 ESJ Les Cotes Sauvages

by David M. Bueker » Sat Feb 28, 2009 7:54 pm

This was opened after a very fun tasting of wines from Domaine de Trevallon. It was popped and poured which really did not suit it, as the wine improved over the brief period I was able to follow it.

Earthy & packed with iron, roasted meat and dark berry aromas this could have been from 100 yards down the road from Trevallon. The tannins have mostly melted away, and the fruit gets stronger with air. The blend of warm secondary aromas and dark fruit was quite captivating.

Excellent wine that has stood the test of time.

Wow. I would have thought this would age, but not nearly twenty years! This was a fun wine when it came out.
