14.5% alc./vol. Viscous, dark garnet colour with a crimson hue. Beautiful nose - ripe blackcurrant fruit atop gorgeous SA bretty leather with hints of coal; a truly classic "SA red" nose, and I love it. Secondary aromas of bell pepper, though the wine itself betrays no underripeness; in fact this is very nice ripe juice. Perky on the entry with a good, fleshy texture and replays of the bouquet on the mid-palate. Very appetizing altogether, with nice oak spice coming into the picture mid-way through. Balanced, medium-bodied and well structured, with a ripe, forward-fruit finish and some more leathery replays. A bit of r.s. on the finish.
A very good SA Cab. I would love to have this in the summer with filet mignon done over hardwood lump charcoal.
