Yes, it was:

2006 Weil, Riesling Estate Trocken:
A nice, deep, dry riesling with good varietal character, structure and length. Lovely with a dish of pasta with chicken, zucchini and cream sauce.

Diane and I had our lunch out on the porch (covered) in a rain storm. Toward the end of our lunch, it really started to come down. Next thing I know, we are racing around the yard naked, dogs trying to keep up, whooping and hollering (and barking) like youngsters. (Obviously, it’s a good thing we live on ten wooded acres.) Then, back up on the porch to the last of the wine, laughing hard and toweling off very excited (and soaked) dogs.

I haven’t any idea how all this got started but I’m buying more of this bottling the first chance I get.

Best, Jim

As much as I love reading these notes again, I also feel a bit disconcerted with the idea. What I like about this (and the two other fora I read regularly) is that one gets a feel for the tastes and preferences and writing styles of all regulars and even semi-regulars. In other words, all notes are ones I can put into context and therefore are valuable and entertaining. This is not a hobby I want to see become a competition.

Yes - see above.

Otto - it's not about a competition, but rather about memorable notes and turns of phrase.

Otto-
You are correct. I think everyone who takes the time and effort to post notes belongs in this HOF. And, thanks for reminding me/us this hobby is not a competion...well said, my friend.

Thanks for spoiling a little fun Bill.

Are there memorable quotes? Why not memorable notes? It took digging to find some of these & I for one was glad to read them again.

There was actually another one I was remembering (Diane sounds like my kind of gal!!!), an Alsatian Riesling, I think, after tasting which she began dancing, singing, disrobing... Jim made a mental note to buy more of this wine!

Dave,
Glad to spoil your fun although that was not my intent. You obviously don't care for my posts or style, so here is a suggestion.... not every post here requires a response from you and I would be flattered to have u ignore mine.
Let's not bore the rest of the folks here, so you can PM me.

Perceptive of you - in a twisted sort of way.

Actually I enjoy your notes, but we are just trying to have a little fun. If you don't like fun then stay away from it.

Thanks for the advice about avoiding fun, but I've never been really fond of following instructions. Now if u will excuse me, I will move on.

Otto, Ian, Bill P: lighten up, man! This was just supposed to be a fun thread in which we reminisced about tasting notes that made us smile somewhere along the way. Don't take it too seriously.

Don't worry about it Ian - Jenise & I were just overall irritated with the idea that immortalizing some things that made us think or smile (or in the case of Sturat's note - wince) was somehow wrong. You got caught in a little of the crossfire.

Heck - I am still trying to figure out what "Life according to Thomas Hobbes" means in reference to wine.

Perhaps I am reading it in a different way, but the initial post seems to have an element of competition that the following posts don't have, so I must simply have misunderstood the initial post. My apologies.

Nothing wrong with a tin bit of latent competition. Surely everyone here feels some desire to taste more/different/interesting wines. And we all push each other forward in that endeavor!

But, I didn't find anything obnoxious or heavy-handed in the original statement.

Ian, you didn't say anything wrong and I erred in including you in my plea for lightness without re-reading your post, the one Otto misinterpreted and cited as making him "also feel a bit disconcerted with the idea".

Please accept my apology.
