- 2001 Weingut August Perll Bopparder Hamm Mandelstein Riesling Auslese - Germany, Mittelrhein (3/8/2009)
This was a wonderful surprise. Sweet and simple the last time I tasted it in 2004, it has become quite delicious. Typical sweetness for 2001 Auslesen, and the acid balance is fine, It is wonderfully juicy with ripe yellow fruits and a big hit of honeysuckle on the finish. Clean and not at all ponderous. A big hit around the table and with me.

Glad to hear it turned out so well. Back in 2003 I was worried about dubious botrytis.
